No one was left untouched; people lost possessions, and in some cases their entire houses. Nearly everyone lost power and water, and 13 days on some are still waiting for it to return. Some no longer have jobs to go back to and have left the city, or are living in a strange kind of limbo. As of today 166 people have been confirmed dead, but over 240 are still unaccounted for.
I have lived the last two and a half years in Melbourne, but a part of my heart will always belong in Christchurch. My thoughts are with all her people, especially my parents, my brother, his partner and all of my friends. It will take a long time for the city to recover, and for the pain to subside, but it will. The people of Canterbury are strong, with a resilient spirit.Even so, if you want to know how you can help, please click here.
