I went for a wander around Christchurch's city centre when I was back home in August. It's been over two years since the deadly earthquake which all but decimated the inner city, and the cordons had only just been lifted.
It was pretty hard to get my bearings, and really hard to comprehend what used to be standing where now there are just empty lots. The contrast between the almost post apocalyptic buildings and the brightly decorated fences was quite striking, but they did go some way towards lifting the sombre mood of the place.
Whilst it was a painful reminder of what we've lost, it's good to see progress is slowly being made. Hopefully it's onwards and upwards from here for Christchurch ♥
